COLLABORATIVE LAW

 Is it cheaper?

When thinking about embarking on the Collaborative Law route Painters solicitors urge clients’ to consider two forms of expense, financial and emotional:-

 i.          Financial - It often is cheaper than taking matters through the courts, but not necessarily. Most cases that adopt the Collaborative process demonstrate cost savings to traditional Court routes.

ii.          Emotional - Consideration must be given to the emotional cost of court proceedings and the benefit that Collaborative law offers. The parties come to the solution which is often easier to accept and live with than a solution ordered by a judge.

Painters solicitors are often informed at the first meeting that clients have tried to sort matters amongst themselves but disagreements, often emotionally fuelled, had led to parties not being able to talk at all.

Painters recognise the benefit of clients’ being able to communicate with each other even after the relationship has broken down. Our Collaborative Lawyer, Meera Khosla is specially trained and would strive to ensure that communication continues.

The ability for parents to work together to reach a solution has an obvious benefit to children and the effect that proceedings can have on them.
