Legal Aid
As well as running a
successful private practice Painters Solicitors is an
approved supplier of both Legal Aid Schemes (Criminal
and Civil/Family Funding).
The Legal Aid Schemes are run by the Legal Services
Commission.
What is Legal Aid?
The Legal Services Commission has an annual budget of £2 billion
per year and enables around two million people to access
legal help each year. The Objective of the Legal aid
scheme is to help as many eligible people as possible,
within a limited budget.
The Legal Services Commission fund Painters Solicitors,
other selected solicitors and advice agencies to:
- Advise
people on their legal problems (such as
family breakdown, actions
actions against police,
consumer, general contract,
debt, education, employment, housing, clinical
negligence, personal injury, welfare benefits and
further miscellaneous matters)
- Help people
understand their rights and the law
- Advise
people detained in police stations
- Represent
people in court.
