Family Paralegal

We are seeking to recruit a full time Paralegal for the Family Department, based at our Kidderminster Office. The role will involve working for a Fee Earner who deals with Family Law specifically Care/Legally funded work . The successful candidate must demonstrate passion and previous experience in a range of Family Law. Audio typing skills are essential as is experience and the ability to produce Court Bundles and fill out Court forms. An empathetic approach when dealing with clients is required.

Office Hours are 9.00 am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday with 1 hour for lunch.

The salary for the role will be based on the current market rate.

Holiday entitlement is 23 days per annum plus Bank Holidays and specified firm holidays.

Paralegal Legal Assistant

Main Purpose of Role: -

 

To provide administrative support to the fee earners in the department and for other fee earners in the firm from time to time.

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities: -

 

1.       Deal with work processing and correspondence as directed by the fee earner(s)

2.       To process e-mails, manage files, and prepare Court Bundles as directed.

3.       To process dictation as required

4.       To attend to clients both in person and over the telephone. To take and record accurately any messages and pass the same on to the appropriate person without delay.

5.       To undertake some fee earner tasks under supervision when required.

6.       To deal with filing and retrieve files as requested

7.       To set up new files accurately and speedily on instructions from fee earners.

8.       To manage fee earners diaries efficiently

9.       To deal with all post as directed whether it be royal mail or DX and to be able to correctly identify the difference between the two methods

10.   To ensure the confidentiality and security of all client documentation and information

11.   To meet and greet clients whilst sat in the reception area

12.   To deal with all reception enquiries to include but not limited to handing out letters for collection and taking payments of bills

 

 

13.   To undertake any specific training or refresher courses as and when required by the Partners

14.   To undertake any other reasonable duties which from time to time may be allocated.

 

 

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION

 

Qualification

 

An excellent standard of general education is required.

To have or be studying for a Law Degree or other Legal Qualification is desirable.

 

Requirements

 

1.       Good verbal and typing skills are essential and must be able to follow instructions and process all work efficiently and effectively

2.       Must be able to communicate well with clients both in person and by telephone

3.       Must have an understanding and appreciation of the role of information technology and its application in a busy solicitors office

 

Personal attributes

1.       Good verbal skills

2.       Ability to develop good working relationships with all staff and agencies with whom it will be necessary to establish contact.

3.       Must be conscientious, competent, positive and motivated

4.       Must be of good character

 

Knowledge Skills and Experience

 

1.        Experience of working in a Legal Administrative or paralegal role is desirable.

2.       Excellent IT skills essential.

3.       Experience of dealing with clients and the general public desirable.
